Frequently Asked Questions
Handmade Products
We hand make everything apart from the wall prints! We use Jesmonite, which is a combination of plaster powder and acrylic resin.
In short, NO! 😆 Any handmade products should not come into contact with water and are not dishwasher safe. Both will cause stains and damage. Please follow our care guidelines to ensure the longevity of your items. We cannot offer refunds for items that have come into contact with water, so it’s important to handle them with care. If you have any questions about proper care, feel free to reach out to us: contact@huem.co.uk or on Instagram @huem_uk.
Well, no two pieces are the same! When products are handmade there can be variations in colour, shape and pattern compared to the images on our website. We hope these differences add to the unique charm of each piece and reflect the artisanal quality of our products. If you have any concerns or questions about your order, please feel free to reach out to us at contact@huem.co.uk or on Instagram @huem_uk.
Air bubbles can sometimes occur during the crafting process, especially with handmade items using Jesmonite. These bubbles are usually small and shouldn't affect the overall quality or durability of your item. In fact, they can be a natural part of the handmade process, adding to the uniqueness and character of your piece.
Dust them regularly or wipe them with a microfibre cloth. Avoid using abrasive sponges or scourers, as these can damage the surface. Please do not soak the items in water or use them in the dishwasher. To keep them shiny, you can polish them with beeswax or a similar product. Following these care guidelines will help maintain the quality and appearance of your items.

To be eligible for a return, your item must be unused, in the same condition you received it, and in its original packaging. Please keep your receipt or proof of purchase. Include photos of the item, especially one of the packaging with the original shipping label. After reviewing the issue, we will either offer a refund or send a replacement, depending on stock availability. Certain items are non-returnable, including custom products (such as made-to-order or personalised items). We also do not accept returns on sale items or gift cards. Unfortunately we cannot refund the original shipping fees.
We do not offer exchanges. The quickest method is to return the original item first. Once the return is accepted, you can place a new order for the desired item.
After we’ve received and inspected your return, we’ll notify you of the refund approval status. If approved, the refund will be issued to your original payment method within 10 working days. Please note that it may take some time for your bank or credit card company to process and post the refund. If more than 15 working days have passed since your refund was approved, please contact us at contact@huem.co.uk.
Sustainability
Materials:
For handmade items, we use a sustainable material called Jesmonite. Unlike traditional concrete, Jesmonite is free from harmful solvents and volatile organic compounds (VOCs), making it a safer choice for both the artist and the environment.
Production:
We handmake each piece in small batches to minimise overproduction and excess stock. This method allows us to maintain high-quality standards while ensuring that every item we create has a minimal environmental footprint.
We minimise waste by recycling any scrap materials or defective items with slight blemishes or issues into our "Recrafted" range. This ensures that nothing goes to waste, allowing us to transform leftover materials into unique, one-of-a-kind pieces that reduce our environmental impact.
